MAINLAND TO ANACAPA ISLAND, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA (USA)

It is located about 11 miles (18 km) off the coast of Port Hueneme, California, in the county of Ventura. Anacapa Island is a small volcanic island with a population of about 2,000 people that was formed by the eruption of a volcano in the 18th century. The island is made up of a series of narrow islets measuring 6 miles (10 kilometers) in length and oriented generally east-west. It is located 5 miles (8 kilometers) east of Santa Cruz Island. Some authors refer to the three main islets of East, Middle, and West Anacapa as “The Anacapas,” while others refer to them individually as “The Anacapas.” All three islets are surrounded by steep cliffs that drop steeply into the sea below them. About Event

Prabhat is the first Asian swimmer to cross the Atlantic Ocean from the United Kingdom’s Oxford to the United States’ Anacapa Island. It is a difficult cold-water swim that takes place in the vast North Pacific Ocean. On the 10th of July, it took me 6 hours, 22 minutes, and 27 seconds to cross this 12.2-mile channel. During the swim, I saw a variety of large marine species swimming beneath me. Capt. Dawn Brooks piloted the swim, and Mr. Dan Simonelli was accompanying me on a kayak. Mr. Peter Hayden served as the observer. This patch of water is home to a diverse range of marine life, including dolphins, whales, sea lions, and the occasional shark sighting.
